I'm always on the hunt for quality battlefield photos no matter the weather or time of year. (Photo of me on the Jackson Flank Attack portion of the Chancellorsville Battlefield, January 2022. It was 19 degrees that morning).

ABOUT ME
I started my photography journey Christmas morning 2018 when my wife surprised gifted me a new Nikon D3400. I had never used a camera before and knew absolutely nothing about photography. She said "Hey, you love going out to the battlefields and taking cell phone pics, which are ok, but knowing you, you will learn about this camera, get it figured out and take better photos". She was right.
And it turned in to a passion. Volunteer Photography
In the last couple of years I have been honored to have had the opportunity to volunteer the use of some of my photos to help preserve Civil War Battlefields on a national level and to help promote our local history and tourism on a more state and regional level. For that, I am forever grateful. It gives me the chance to give back in a small way to my community and to hopefully, inspire others to learn more about our country's history. If interested, you can see more about this on my "Achievements & Recognitions" page. (*Volunteer use means for cause promotion only use in print and digital media. This does not include commercial use of any kind where my images get sold in any format. All my images fall under traditional copyright laws and I retain those rights at all times) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can reach me at: jchrislandon@gmail.com Thank you for supporting Historic Preservation and Wildlife Conservation. |
(The top photo on this page is one I took of my granddaughter at a local pumpkin patch and the bottom photo is one I took of the Slaughter Pen Farm, which is a 200 acre farm site that played a significant part in the Battle of Fredericksburg in 1862, that has now been preserved forever for future generations to experience and enjoy).
